The Groom Story
The Groom and O’Reilly’s families have been interlinked for almost 100 years. Arthur Groom was the first company secretary of the O’Reilly’s family company. In 1933 he then partnered with Romeo Laheyto form and establish Binna Burra lodge on the eastern side of Lamington. During the decades that followed the second-generation family members had much in common and became good friends – Tony, Richard and Donn Groom, and Peter and Vince O’Reilly. A final word from Bernard O’Reilly – a man who spent two days in the wilds of Lamington National Park to find the Stinson crash – “The only man who could outwalk me was Arthur Groom.”
Our 2023 Pinot Gris vintage showcases blush hue from ripe grapes. The bouquet blends Pear, Grapefruit, and Lemon, with Honeysuckle undertones. The palate starts with Pear, transitioning into Grapefruit and Lemon. A hint of spiced Quince adds a twist. The unfolding wine reveals a soft palate, reminiscent of Peaches and Cream. The wine’s length is attributed to a bright citrus acidity.
