Vince’s Story
Vincent O’Reilly – Vintage 1931 – 1999
Born in Maleny in 1931, Vincent (Vince) O’Reilly first arrived at the O’Reilly’s mountain home at age 13, later leaving to do an apprenticeship and work in western Queensland. He returned in 1955 to join the guesthouse operations, taking over the running of the guesthouse from the first generation with his brother Peter (Big Pete). Vince married his wife Lona and raised a family of 10 children on the mountain before passing away in 1999 at the age of 68. Over 45 years Vince made an outstanding contribution to the O’Reilly story, the business, and to expanding the concepts of ecotourism. He is remembered as a true pioneer of nature-based tourism in Australia as well as a loving husband, father, and loyal friend to many.
Hand-picked from our Canungra Vineyard by our devoted Wine Club members on the 5th of February 2023, this wine presents a delicate bouquet of floral and tropical fruit tones. Enhanced Aromas of white blossoms reveal hints of Pineapple and Passionfruit. The palate unfolds with opulent flavours of Melon and Guava underpinned by an intricate interplay of fruits woven together by precise acidity. Those who enjoy this Verdelho will discover that it pairs perfectly with fresh seafood.
