Vince’s Story
Vincent O’Reilly – Vintage 1931 – 1999
Born in the rolling hills of Maleny in 1931, Vincent “Vince” O’Reilly made his first journey to the O’Reilly’s mountain guesthouse at just 13 years old. After completing his apprenticeship and working across western Queensland, Vince returned in 1955 to help run the family’s Lamington guesthouse. Alongside his brother Peter “Big Pete” O’Reilly, he took the reins from the first generation and helped shape the future of O’Reilly’s Rainforest Retreat.
A devoted husband to Lona and proud father to 10 children raised on the mountain, Vince’s legacy spans more than four decades. He is widely recognised as a pioneer of Australian ecotourism, dedicating his life to preserving nature while sharing it with others. Vince O’Reilly passed away in 1999 at age 68, but his contribution to O’Reilly’s and nature-based tourism lives on.

Vince Reserve Verdelho – 750ml
Crafted from grapes hand-picked by our dedicated Wine Club members on the 5th of February 2023 at our Canungra Valley Vineyard, the Vince Reserve Verdelho celebrates the Scenic Rim’s vibrant terroir. Grown on-site, this Verdelho combines delicate floral aromas with tropical fruit notes, perfectly capturing Queensland’s warm climate.
On the nose, you’ll notice bright scents of white blossom, pineapple, and passionfruit. The palate offers layers of ripe melon and guava, complemented by precise, elegant acidity. Together, they create a crisp, refreshing finish. This medium-bodied Verdelho delivers both vibrancy and balance.
Verdelho originates from Portugal and is used in both fortified Madeira wines and crisp, dry table wines. In warmer climates like Queensland, it develops rich tropical fruit flavors alongside citrus notes and lively acidity. As a result, it produces a versatile, food-friendly wine with approachable elegance.
It pairs beautifully with fresh seafood, summer grazing boards, and lightly spiced dishes. Moreover, its easy-drinking style makes it perfect for enjoying on its own during warm afternoons.
