The Groom & O’Reilly families have shared a deep connection for nearly a century. Arthur Groom, the first company secretary for the O’Reilly family company, partnered with Romeo Lahey in 1933. Together they established Binna Burra Lodge on Lamington’s eastern edge.
Over the decades, the second-generation family members – Tony, Richard, and Donn Groom, alongside Vince and Peter O’Reilly – forged strong friendships. Their shared values in conservation, hospitality, and the land remain at the heart of our story.
A final word from Bernard O’Reilly. A man who spent two days in the wilds of Lamington National Park to find the Stinson crash – “The only man who could outwalk me was Arthur Groom.”
Groom Reserve Pinot Gris 2024 – 750ml
Our 2024 Pinot Gris is crafted with gentle skin contact, giving the wine its beautiful natural blush hue and adding a touch of complexity to this already vibrant style. The bouquet opens with fresh Pear, Grapefruit, and Lemon, lifted by soft Honeysuckle notes.
On the palate, it begins with ripe Pear before evolving into bright Grapefruit and zesty Lemon. A subtle hint of spiced Quince adds an intriguing twist. As the wine unfolds, a soft, rounded palate emerges, evoking Peaches and Cream. Its refreshing length is guided by a lively citrus acidity.
